Our meetings are held at 2:30pm on the third Sunday of each month (except for July, August and December).
We strive to have our speakers and their topics identified at least 3 months in advance.
The status of our Current Programs is given below. As the date for each talk approaches a more detailed description will be posted.

Notification of postponement/cancellation due to weather
As a service to our members, the Athenæum Society of Nova Scotia will post on its website a notice of postponement or cancellation by 9am on the day of the presentation as well as sending the information direct via email. When a postponement is feasible, the new date will be posted. If you are in any doubt due to the vagaries of winter weather in Nova Scotia, please check before leaving home.

- Social distancing will be available for some seating. If you wish to use this capability, we recommend that you arrive early so that you can be suitably seated.
- We will not be having our normal coffee, tea and cookies at the end of the meeting.

Upcoming Talks Sunday 21 June 2026 “ Parkinson’s Demystified: A Journey of Awareness and Hope” presented by Jon Denman Born in Yorkshire, Jon Denman emigrated to Canada in 1973 after a career in shipping. In Canada he started his own business which he ran for 30 years. He continues to work in small business after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019. He now is involved with a Parkinson’s research organization and a global support group. Jon will present his own research activities and share experiences with his support group. All talks are held at Ocean Swells Community Centre in Northwest Cove, starting at 2.30pm. |
